Scotia Talc Mine

We sincerely regret to inform you that Scotia Talc Mine has been closed.

Closure of Scotia Talc Mine

Scotia Talc Mine commenced operations in 1908 and today is a modern underground mining operation using drilling and blasting to extract talc ore. The ore is brought to the surface where it is crushed and milled to a sub 45 micron, 25 micron or 10 micron particle size using ball mills and air classification. The talc is separated by product whiteness into various grades. The plant produces some 7,000 tones per year of milled Industrial Grade Talc for local and sales. The known reserves for this mine will keep it operational for a further 40 years at current production levels.
